Sister Boniface Mysteries (2022-2023)

Ivan graces this rural detective drama series set in the 1960s in Warwickshire with appearances of a cameo character as Ted Button, the father of police officer Peggy Button and the local butcher. It is a spin-off of the Father Brown series.

Ivan’s character is at the centre of action in episode 7 ‘Dem Bones’ and also pops up in episodes 9 ‘Sister Town’ and 10 ‘Crimes and Miss Demeanours’.

Season 1 has been released from 8th February 2022 on BritBox and will come out on 21st March 2022 on Blu-ray and DVD. The discs are available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk. Less than a week after the start of the BritBox release, it has also been announced that the series has been commissioned for a second season already (BBC media centre).

The UK premiere date for Drama Channel is on 11th March at 9 pm (UK time, we assume) and the series will air weekly according to a WhatToWatch article from 23rd February 2022.

From a teaser clip released on 8th February by BritBox US, we also got a hint that Ivan’s character is going to be arrested. We can confirm that meanwhile as it happens in episode 7 ‘Dem Bones’. Here is an HQ shot from the scene at the police:

Ivan has been filming under difficult conditions created by illness of several colleagues from mid-June to mid-September 2021 and went directly on to the set of his next project Wedding Season the day after wrapping on this show.

In 2022, he has returned for a substantial guest appearance as the local butcher and dignitary Ted Button in episode 2×07 ‘Stiff Competition’ set to air in the last week of April 2023 on BritBox in various regions. This time, illness led to delayed filming schedules, so Ivan had to travel directly from the set to attend the German Vikings Con on 5th November 2022.
