Ivan stars in this Irish independent comedy feature film about, well: clowns, in a LEADING ROLE as The Great Alphonso. (UPDATES in the articles linked farther below)
Directed by George Kane, written by Demian Fox, Shane O’Brien and James Walmsley, and produced by Morgan Bushe, the film has been shot in Dublin and Kildare between 21st February and 8th April 2022 and is set for a theatrical release in Ireland in 2022 already according to Wildcard Distribution.
Ivan posted a selfie of himself on the plane on his way to Ireland on 28th February (unfortunately, we can’t display the videos here) – without mentioning what he was doing, of course.
The director dropped another hint on 4th March 2022 on Twitter:
According to Ivan on Facebook and Twitter, filming wrapped on Friday, 8th April 2022.
On Saturday and Sunday, we got wrap party photos and additional clues from the director and Ivan’s interactions.
One of the wrap party photos posted by Vikings: Valhalla actress Pollyanna McIntosh also features two more Vikings actors: Amy De Bhrún and Fionn Forley.
According to Variety on 20th May 2022, the international rights have meanwhile been acquired by Charades and the UK rights are handled by Vertigo Releasing.
The plot is outlined as follows:
the film tells the tale of a troupe of failed clowns and an ambitious reporter who embark on a chaotic adventure of self-discovery after a mysterious solar event plunges the world into anarchy.

Other cast members include Amy De Bhrún, Natalie Palamides, Fionn Foley, Tadgh Murphy and David Earl. As the film has been shot in Ireland, it is no wonder that three of them also are former castmates of Ivan from Vikings, most notably Tadgh Murphy who played Ragnar Lothbrok’s friend Arne in the first two seasons of the show.

Based on Ivan’s remarks on social media, it is safe to assume that the cast feels similar about the director and the production.
