Trailer and new release date dropped today: The domestic theatrical release in the UK and Ireland has been postponed to 1st September 2023 according to Vertigo Releasing and Wildcard Distributions.
There is also a North American premiere towards the end of July with screenings on the 21st and 23rd of July at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Québéc but as it looks, the lineup has not been announced yet. The filmmakers will be present but none of the main cast has been announced.

A sneak peek shown before TV interview with Amy De Bhrún has dropped on Sunday on Irish TV and gives an interesting glimpse at Ivan’s as well as Amy’s characters – yes, Ivan’s Great Alphonso doesn’t seem to be a great friend, but his approach works!
By the way, have you noticed similarities between Ivan’s The Great Alphonso and The Joker? We are curious to learn if that is a mere coincidence.
Today’s official trailer revealed only limited additional material of Ivan as Alphonso – but some promising glimpses: He wields a sword and gets damaged again, just this time as a clown. Looks like we are in for a treat:

Ivan Kaye’s upcoming new Irish comedy movie Apocalypse Clown, directed by George Kane and produced by Fastnet Films and others has finally seen its market premiere at the Cannes Film Festival today, 18th May 2023.

It is set for domestic release in the UK and Ireland this coming August 2023 according to the media and the international distributor Charades. International release dates have not been announced yet.

The World Premiere of Apocalypse Clown is on 14th July 2023 at 9:30 pm at the Galway Film Fleadh festival – and Ivan is going to attend! Plus, after the screening, there will be a discussion.

First Look at The Great Alphonso
With the market premiere, Charades has also released a first look at Ivan in his “big bad” clown character The Great Alphonso along with other cast members.

We do have a load of photos and GIFs from behind the scenes of the movie since Ivan has taken and collected a lot more than usual on this production but we have decided to wait until after the premiere – or until we feel it is safe to start sharing them.

News on the Plot
We meet our stars at the funeral of an international clown master. Three of the failed clowns (Natalie Palamides, Fionn Foley and David Earl) get into a brawl and discover after their release from jail that a mysterious solar event has plunged the world into anarchy. Meanwhile, Ivan’s character The Great Alphonso, a pompous ex-TV clown celebrity, spots his chance to resurrect his career and reclaim the fame he so craves.
The four of them end up embarking together on a chaotic road trip of self-discovery while Jenny (Amy De Bhrún), a conspiracy clickbait reporter, is looking for a way to broadcast the «truth» to the whole world.
During the journey, The Great Alphonso and Jenny collaboratively enter the spotlight, involving an army of feral children. Things get deadly serious but eventually, the clowns will meet for a final clown show proving that the end of the world can also be a funny business.
